So I was inspired to make my own Nepeta-style shipping wall since my ships are too crazy for lines!

Here’s the template I made for the wall if anyone wants it! Fits 12 ships per quadrant so far.

The boxes are messy as fuck because hand drawn boxes.

I was looking back at some of my old fandoms and fanfiction I clearly remember from them and I finally remembered why Karezi appeals to me so much.

Fucking Total Drama Island fandom days… A few of my ships from way back then were quite reminiscent of my current OTP in more ways than one. Actually, one particular ship was nearly identical except for a few details here and there.

Sometimes to amuse myself I look through Homestuck shipping walls and try to find the ones with the most similar ships to me.
However with me, I can’t tell if you gain more points by shipping my OTPs or not shipping the ships I hate.

i honestly haven’t seen many really annoying solara fans? i mean i know they’re out there but it definitely seems to have one of the chiller fanbases among homestuck ships, in my experience

(and no, i’m not just biased because it’s my otp, i legitimately have not seen much OMG KAWAII SORRUKUSU-KUN or whatever in the solara fanbase)

There are like, literally three concupiscent canon ships……..

DadMom, VriskaEridan (though that was long gone) and JackQueen…

There’s the other ones also, like moirails and stuff but

Arasol is not canon people……

It does have a fair bit of canon support, though. More than a lot of ships, really.

I could go on all day about this, but in short, while it’s not explicitly canon (which, like you said, most ships aren’t), there’s a ton of implications and it seems pretty likely that yes, they were a thing at some point. 

So it’s closer to canon than a lot of Homestuck ships.

Mind if I step in and try to clear up a few things?

Okay, so this ship has not been confirmed canon as of yet, however it is speculated that it has been canon (in the pesterlog between Aradia and Vriska before Aradia’s death, Vriska does indeed refer to Sollux as Aradia’s boyfriend, suggesting they were in a relationship at the time). Other apparent canon evidence exists, but in Homestuck the concept of “canon” is very different than it is in other things.

There are three known canon matespritships. Those are Karkat and Terezi (Don’t argue that Karezi was never confirmed canon, I’m using the Wiki and they’ve also used the <3 chat symbol with each other before seen here.), Sollux and Feferi (Yes this is canon, it was proven during [S] Kanaya: Return to the core.), and Mindfang and The Summoner. Note that these are just the ones that have been referred to using the term “matesprit”. 

There are 3 or 4 confirmed kismesisstudes as well. Those are Jack and the Black Queen/Snowman, Vriska and Eridan, Mindfang and Dualscar, and also it has been stated that Karkat thinks he’s his own kismesis.

Then there’s the complicated ones, like matesprit-kismesis double reacharounds. Canon examples of these are Vriska and Tavros, Equius and Aradia, Karkat and Terezi, and Jack and PM.

Then we can go into all the relationships that are unrequited (as in only one party has such feelings), but that might take too long since there are so many.

And since we’re only talking about concupiscent relations, I won’t go into moirallegiances and auspisticism and other more complicated vacillations since I’ve actually quite drifted from the point.

Four things in conclusion:

1. Don’t hate on a whole ‘ship and it’s fanbase for certain fans, since most of them are actually nice people who just want to 'ship something.

2. “Canon relationships” are about as existent in Homestuck as they are in Hetalia.

3. Troll relationships are very complicated.

4. Overall: Not all Solradia/Arasol/Solara/Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom/whatever you want to call it fans are “weird Sollux-worshipping weeaboos” and do not all “bash Feferi”. Some of us actually do appreciate Feferi’s character, but just prefer Sollux 'shipped with Aradia over Feferi, despite what is canon and what is not.

Finally, people can 'ship what they want. Let people be how they are about it. If they tick you off, okay it ticks you off and you can confront these fans in a civil manner that their behavior isn’t sportsmanlike in this 'shipping “game”. If you want to 'ship two characters over one interaction, one scene, one panel, one millisecond of a flash, so be it. 'Ship as you please, just try to be civil about it and at least have some class. You don’t want to look like a barbarian at a dinner party, now do you?
